Michael Jackson documentary premieres in UK
Against that backdrop, a documentary celebrating the singer’s life premiered in the United Kingdom. "Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon" was shown at London’s Empire Theatre on Wednesday.
Throngs of loyal fans gathered at the red carpet ceremony, paying homage to their late icon. Jackson’s siblings Rebbie and Tito also attended.
Producer David Gest says the documentary is a unique look at the King of Pop, and features interviews with family and close friends, as well as never before seen footage and photographs of the star.
David Gest, Producer, said, "It tells a real story. Nobody’s life is perfect, we all have our faults but you see so many wonderful sides of Michael and you see the real man behind the music, and he was a very strong man."
Tito Jackson, Michael Jakson’s Brother, said, "It moves you, it makes you laugh, it makes you smile, and it makes you cry."
Jackson’s mother, Katherine, had cancelled a trip to London to attend the final days of the Los Angeles trial of Dr. Conrad Murray. It was announced Tuesday that Dr Murray chose not to testify at the trail. Tito said he had hoped that Murray would have had some words for Michael’s family, friends and fans.
Tito Jackson, Michael Jakson’s Brother, said, "It would have been very nice to hear what he had to say, but whether it would have been the truth or not, but just to hear him say something or give an apology, that he made a major mistake. I would feel better if he could even just commit to his misdoings and apologize to my family and Michael Jackson’s fans."
"Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon" was released on DVD and Blu-ray in the U.K. on October the 31st.
