Azerbaijani Health Ministry expresses opinion on UN Population Fund’s report

Baku. Sevil Zeynalgizi – APA. There are incorrect groundless reports about Azerbaijan in the UN Population Fund’s report on “State of World Population-2011”. APA reports that the statement issued by the Health Ministry on it says that the indicators on maternal and children mortality were calculated correctly by the Azerbaijan State Statistics Committee. Those indicators were accepted by the WHO and included to the report.

The statement says that if the child mortality aged 0-1 years was 28,2% in 1993, this indicator has decreased by 11% over the last two years. The child mortality aged 0-5 years decreased from 44.4% to 4.3% per 1000 live births in comparison with 1993. Maternal mortality decreased from 34.4 facts per 100 000 live births to 15.7 facts in 2010 in comparison with 1993. The births at home decreased as a result of measures taken towards the education of population. According to the statistics of 2010, this indicator form 2.3% of common births.

According to the UN Population Fund’s report named “State of World Population-2011”, about 33 death cases per 100 live births are in Azerbaijan between the children under age of 5. 38 maternal mortalities are in Azerbaijan per every 100 000 live births. According to the report, 42 of every 1000 birth fall to share of mothers aged 15-19. Though 88% of births in the country attended by skilled health personnel, the other 12% occur domiciliary and without skilled health personnel.
