Cases of corporal punishment revealed in secondary schools, says Azerbaijani Human Rights Commissioner

Baku. Parvin Abbasov – APA. “The cases of corporal punishment are occasionally recorded in Azerbaijani secondary schools,” Human Rights Commissioner Elmira Suleymanova said, APA reports. Human Rights Commissioner said she met with the director of the school, where a teacher covered pupil’s mouth with sticky tape.

Human Rights Commission said there are cases of violence in families, even there are facts of death.
“Once I witnessed violence against a four-year-old child, I shed tears,” she said.

Elmira Suleymanova advised in case of violence against children at schools, or other places to call 916 Hotline of the Human Rights Commissioner’s Office.
