UNESCO: Shortage of primary teachers observed in Azerbaijan

According to the table compiled by UNESCO Institute for Statistics on the eve of World Teacher’s Day, though it is demanded to create 3-20% teacher positions on international primary education in Azerbaijan in order to meet the UN goals, this goal is not achieved. According to the document, there are about 44000 primary teachers in Azerbaijan. But UNESCO considers that it is needed to reach this number to 54000 till 2015. the report says that 81% of primary teachers in Azerbaijan are women.

According to the report, 2 million new teaching positions will need to be created in the world. The US, Spain, Ireland and the other developed countries face the shortage of primary teachers.
