IDEA Environmental Campaign to hold international camp of ecologists
The main purpose of the camp is to contribute to the establishment of working relations between various developing ecological groups and movements in the region and across the world via regional cooperation and networking, besides, to ensure active participation of young ecologists in public life of regions which they represent, to strengthen their role in their communities and encourage them to act as envoys for implementation of ecological enlightenment.
The 3-day youth camp will start with the opening ceremony, and continue with workshops and training courses on 3 various topics. The representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan will participate in the opening ceremony of the event.
The main panel topics of the camp are as follows:
- Role of youth in solution of new and appearing global environmental problems
- Perspectives for environmental cooperation – network and community support projects
- Development of green economy
Speedy development and industrialization in South Caucasus have brought a number of ecological issues into forefront over the recent years.
As a state situated in the region rich with natural oil and gas resources, Azerbaijan has worked to mobilize efforts of society to prevent threats posed by environmental problems and direct them in a right path. Therefore, 2010 was declared Year of Ecology in Azerbaijan. Despite being a young state, Azerbaijan gives preference to industries and businesses that entail environmental protection, educates young generation and prioritizes protection of environment. A new young generation, understanding the urgency of current environmental problems should live with common goals for environmental protection.
IDEA Environmental Campaign was launched on 12 July, 2011 on the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, vice-president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Head of the Organization of Azerbaijani Youth of Russia. The main purpose of the Campaign is to bring the youth together, to educate and encourage them for living in harmony with environment.
