Misir Mardanov: â€œAbout 10 000 Azerbaijani youth are getting education abroad nowâ€

This number is increasing speedilyâ€, said Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov at the 9th ASAIF international summer forum which is held in Kempinski Hotel Badamdar.

He said that the great majority of the Azerbaijani students are getting education in Turkey and Russia. Minister said that the education abroad was not controlled in the first years of the independence: â€œBut now the education of Azerbaijanis abroad is completely controlled by the government. The great majority of them are the students who gained good results in the entrance exams to the higher educational establishmentsâ€.

Minister said that main priority specialties for Azerbaijanis studying abroad are the specialties of mathematics, physics, biology, medicine, informatics, chemistry, agriculture.

Mardanov reminded that for the first time 100 people were sent to get education abroad during the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan in 1919, but then the fate of many of them were unknown: â€œThe second wave of education abroad started in 1960-1980s on the initiative of Heydar Aliyevâ€.
