American students learn Azerbaijani within US State Department’s Critical Language Scholarship program

According to APA, eleven American students spent two months in Baku to learn Azerbaijani language. In this period, they visited various regions and ancient historic places of Azerbaijan. Spokesperson for the US Embassy in Baku Keith Bean congratulated the students and said it was a new contribution to the cultural and humanitarian relations between the two countries. He said this program aims not only to educate the future leaders, but also to make communication between the two peoples more alive. “I think this education program is very useful”.

The students said their visit to Azerbaijan made a new contribution to their life experience. The young people said they learned language and met new friends and became familiarized with a culture they didn’t know before. Some of the American students performed the pieces of Azerbaijani composers.

The program of Critical Language Scholarship educates American specialists on 14 priority languages, including Azerbaijani. This is a part of the US initiative to educate the Americans, who learn critical languages like Azerbaijani and develop their language skills.
