The next Social Innovation Camp was organized in Azerbaijan

Baku-APA. Social Innovation Camp which supports realizing of social internet ideas was organized in Baku, AF Hotel last weekend (July 23-24, 2011) for the second time in Azerbaijan, Project Coordinator of Social Innovation Camp Rashad Mehbaliyev told APA.

Emin Huseynzade, project manager of this camp gave brief information about the camp and introduced judges to participants. The judges were from different countries (Azerbaijan, UK, Czech Republic, and USA) with several years of professional experience. Then six ideas selected to compete were presented to participants. Participants started to work hard together on these ideas within six different teams. Authors of ideas came together with people who can help them to realize their ideas and competition begun. Judges gave their suggestions, remarks and advice to the teams during their work.

Team works were developed from ideas to projects and presentations of the projects took place during the second day of the camp. Judges evaluated these projects according to their usefulness for society and only two of them won funding and consulting service to realize their projects. One of them was to create a web-site which will provide platform for the people to write their problems and to get support from other visitors; the other was to introduce a web-site which will provide fast information to the people about the problems on city roads.
The camp was organized by Prague-based organization â€œTransitionsâ€ and funded by â€œIREXâ€. Their aim was to help realizing internet ideas which can build effective web-based solutions to real social problems. These organizations also observed the camp. The first Social Innovation Camp in Azerbaijan was held by the same organization and donor last year in September.
