Heavy flood destroyed hydropower station under construction, bridges, houses flooded in Ismayilli region of Azerbaijan

First deputy head of the regionâ€™s executive authority, chief of the emergency situations commission Rafael Ahmadov told APAâ€™s Shirvan bureau that the level of water rose by five times in Goychay, Girdiman, Eyrichay, Galachigchay, yards of houses, about 30 houses were flooded, fences, roads, pedestrian and highway bridges collapsed. The flood destroyed the hydropower station, which is being constructed on the Goychay river for three months. The concrete dam of the station, construction materials inside the river and on the shore were flooded. Sumaghalli village was flooded. The bridge on the Galachig river collapsed, Galachig, Chaygovushan and Istisu villages lost contact with the center of the region. Several highway and pedestrian bridges on the Eyrichay river collapsed. Roads, electric posts, drinkable water pipelines and gas pipelines went out of order, as the water level is high, it causes difficulties to eliminate the consequences of the disaster. The representatives of the emergency situations commission are considering the appeals of the flood-affected citizens.
