Chairman of State Committee: â€œNumber of drug users increased in Azerbaijanâ€

Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh â€“ APA. â€œUnfortunately, the number of drug users increased by 2500 and approached to 26 000 in Azerbaijan last year. But it is not a concrete number, maybe, the real number is more than thisâ€, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee to Combat Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Turnover Ali Hasanov told journalists, APA reports.

Reminding that June 26 is marked as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Hasanov said that the drug problem is more dangerous problem than a war in the entire world. The commission chairman said that the drug production has increased to 78% in the entire world for the last 12 years: â€œThe struggle against drug use must be carried out in the world, the reduction has been observed in the production of some drugs for the last 2-3 years. It was noted in the UN annual reportâ€.

Hasanov said that model to combat drug became old: â€œThe laws on anti-drug struggle must be severedâ€.
