Labour and Social Protection Minister of Azerbaijan delivers speech at 100th session of International Labour Conference

Baku. Sevil Valehova - APA-Economics. In order to participate in the 100th Session of the International Labor Conference, the delegation led by Labour and Social Protection Minister of Azerbaijan Fizuli Alakbarov was on a visit to Geneva on June 8-12.

Ministry told APA that the minister Fizuli Alakbarovâ€™s speech at the plenary meeting was listened by all participants with great interest.

Within the framework of the visit, on June 9, several meetings were held with Director-General of the International Labour Conference Juan Somavia, executive director Mr. Salazar-Xirinachs, regional director on Europe and the Central Asia Susan Hoffmann. Socio-economic development of Azerbaijan, reforms conducted in the country, implemented big projects, as well as decrease of poverty as a result of wide application of social programs and works done in direction of rising level of populationâ€™s living conditions and gained achievements were discussed at the meeting. Besides, successful investment activity of republic in the region within framework of different international projects was noted.

Conference officials spoke about reforms conducted in education and health sphere of Azerbaijan. They appreciated realization of appropriate events directed to development of human capital and manpower, as well as application of cutting-edge technology.

Meeting noted that employment program and country program on supply of decent labor had been conducted successfully and ILC would support Azerbaijan comprehensively.
