UN Commissioner: â€œAzerbaijani government has invested too much capital for improvement of life conditions of refugees and IDPs and achieved great successes in this fieldâ€

APA reports that today he has visited the graves of Heydar Aliyev and Zarifa Aliyeva in the Alley of Honor, and then he visited the Alley of Martyrs.

The High Commissioner told journalists that the main purpose of his visit was the close familiarization with the existing life condition of refuges and IDPs in Azerbaijan and to determine what the UN High Commissariat for Refugees (HCR) can do within cooperation between Azerbaijani government and HCR.

Commenting on unsettlement of problem on refugees in Azerbaijan, the guest noted that it was a humanitarian as well as political problem: â€œThis problem appeared as a result of political contradiction between the countries. Though there the UNâ€™s resolution, unfortunately this problem has not been solved up to this dayâ€.

The UN Commissioner underlined that Azerbaijani government has invested too much capital for improvement of life conditions of refugees and IDPs and achieved great successes in this field. He expressed hope that the negotiations towards the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict within OSCE will give its results.
