Week of combat human trafficking starts in Azerbaijan

APA reports that this campaign is held jointly by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, State Migration Service, «Clean World» Public Union, the International Migration Organization and International Labor Organization.

In her speech, Deputy Head of OSCE Baku Office Melissa Stone said that the human traffic was a global problem and existed in many countries: “We held the analogical campaign last year too. About 500 calls were received by the hotline within the campaign. We are glad that our activity is supported by the society, because such campaigns are conducted for education of the population. Joining the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, Azerbaijani government declared the prevention of trafficking problem one of its main priorities”.

Head of “Azerbaijan Migration Centre” Public Union Alovsat Aliyev informed about the works which will be carried out within the campaign. According to him, the noted campaign will be held on May 6-16. Within the campaign, the special programs covering this problem will be broadcasted and the debates will be organized on TV and radio, the booklets and posters reflecting the combat human trafficking will be distributed. On May 13, the OSCE Baku Office will hold a workshop dedicated to the combat human trafficking, and the roundtable dedicated to this problem on May 16.

Besides, organizing the concert program dedicated to the day of combat human trafficking is considered within the campaign.
