Kazakhstan detains 32 Azerbaijani and Russian citizens for illegal fishing in its waters this year

Laman Aghayeva – APA. 32 Azerbaijani and Russian citizens have been detained for illegal fishing in the coastal waters of Kazakhstan since the beginning of this year, APA correspondent reports from Kazakhstan. 7 vessels, 800 kg illegally getting fish and 40 fishing equipments were confiscated by the law-enforcement bodies in the Kazakhstan’s sector of the Caspian Sea. 26.5 tons of fish, including two tons of sturgeon, 453 fishing instruments, as well as 13 vessels and other floating installations were detained in the coastal territories of Atirau, Mangistau and Eastern Kazakhstan regions. 60 criminal cases were launched against the illegal fishers, 37 of them were sent to the courts. 173 administrative protocols were drawn. 570 thousand tenge (Kazakh national currency) fine were charged. Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in Aktau told APA there is no Azerbaijani citizen under the arrest for illegal fishing in Kazakhstan at present.
