Azerbaijan has always been a tolerant, multicultural country and remains so today, Bishop Alexy of the Azerbaijan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church said at an event dedicated to the 6th anniversary of Remembrance Day at the Caucasus Muslims’ Board, APA reports.
He said that all citizens belonging to different nationalities and religions in Azerbaijan live as one family, in an atmosphere of friendship and unity: “It was precisely this friendship and unity that enabled the united people of our country to become a victorious people. The victory achieved in the Patriotic War is of great importance for our country. This victory made it possible to return the lost territories, ensure the security of citizens, and create conditions for the future economic development of the region.”
He said that the entire world is currently going through a period of geopolitical upheaval: “Military conflicts are taking place near our borders. However, Azerbaijan’s international standing is high. With its victory, Azerbaijan demonstrated its ability to defend its territory and population in the face of external threats.
All this became possible thanks to the unity and support of the entire people, who demonstrated resilience and solidarity. At the same time, it is the duty of every citizen of Azerbaijan to remember our heroes and martyrs who did not spare their lives for the unity of our Motherland.”
