A post has been shared on President Ilham Aliyev’s social media accounts on the occasion of the Sabah football team qualifying for the main stage of the UEFA Champions League, APA reports.
The post reads:
"I heartily congratulate 'Sabah' football club on securing a magnificent victory and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League league phase.
It gives me particular joy and pride that a newly established team has achieved such a great accomplishment in such a short period of time. The fact that our clubs have earned the right to compete in the league phase of the world's strongest club tournament for the second consecutive year is another vivid indicator of Azerbaijan's progress in all fields and of the country's standing as a sporting nation.
I wish 'Sabah' new victories and success in the upcoming matches!"
It should be noted that yesterday, Azerbaijani champion Sabah faced Israel’s Hapoel (Be’er Sheva) in Baku. Sabah defeated the Israeli side and secured a place in the league phase of the Champions League.
