Over 3,500 national domains registered online during past 5 months in Azerbaijan

Baku. Aynur Aliyeva – APA-Economics. From September, 2013 to January 2014, 3,544 “*.az” domains were registered online in Azerbaijan, head of the E-Security Centre under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Faig Farmanov.

According to Whois.az website, totally, 21,662 domains were registered in Azerbaijan last year. Since early 2014, 125 domains have been cancelled, 1,080 domains registered.

Cost of one-time registration of (*.az) domain is AZN 20, annual fee – AZN 20. Second-level domains registration is free, but annual fee is AZN 10.

Registration and technical support of the domains of education institutions and state bodies are free.

On August 25, 1993, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) passed a decision on giving of *.az domain zone to Azerbaijan state.
