The Head of State cut the ribbon symbolizing the official inauguration of the facility.
It was noted that Azeraeronavigation Air Traffic Department is operationally responsible for the provision of air traffic services in the airspace of the Republic of Azerbaijan and in all airports across the country. The Department was established in 1996 in compliance with requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and received an ISO certificate from DQS, German Registrar for Management Systems. The Organization controls flights of aircrafts in the area of 165,400 m². Length of air corridor for service rendered by this department is over 8,000 km.
In 2012, Azeraeronavigation Air Traffic Department served 130,000 aircrafts, with 80,000 of them having used Azerbaijan’s airspace as a transit route.
The number of airlines operating flights from the Heydar Aliyev International Airport is growing. The new building of Air Traffic Control Center will strengthen the country’s capabilities to tackle the growing number of flights.
The President toured the building, and then had a meeting with staff of Azeraeronavigation Air Traffic Department.
