Georgia. Nizami Mammadzadeh - APA. Azerbaijan is the main car buyer from Georgia. However, car export to Azerbaijan decreased in 2014, APA’s Georgia bureau reports quoting National Statistical Office of Georgia.
Georgia got $408,570,000 from car export during nine months of 2014. It was $511,742,000 last year.
Azerbaijan imported $207,200,400-cars in January-September.
Georgian car dealers say one of the causes of decline in car export to Azerbaijan is application of Euro-4 standard in Azerbaijan. Consequently, the cars produced prior to April 1, 2005 cannot be imported to Azerbaijan: “Azerbaijan aims to prevent gas emission into atmosphere”.
The sellers in Rustavi told APA that the sale increased a bit in the late months: “This will lead to organize sale of cars meeting Euro-4 standard”.
Georgian MP Giorgi Vashadze said in his speech that the most useful business in Georgia year-on-year is car trading: “Georgian government can make concession to car sellers in tax payment. If the government outstretches tax payment period to 90 days and individuals and legal entities are exempted from tax penalties, the crisis can be eliminated”.
