EU intends to study Azerbaijan’s experience in ICT sphere

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. The Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov met with the Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia on the occasion of completion of his diplomatic mission in the country.

 

Kobia stressed that Azerbaijan is one of the leading countries in the region, as well as among the neighboring states of Europe for the development of the ICT sector: ‘The European Union is closely following the development of the ICT sector in Azerbaijan and is ready to provide expert support to the Ministry in the implementation of future plans in this area’.

 

The Head of the EU Delegation added that Azerbaijan's experience gained over the last 10 years may be useful to other countries of the Eastern Partnership.

 

In turn, Abbasov touched upon the close cooperation of departments and constant exchange of experience with the EU institutions. To him, according to the concept of development of Azerbaijan, the ICT Ministry made public long-term plans for formation of an economy based on science, as well as bringing the level of income of the ICT sector to the level of income from the oil and gas industry.
