Azerbaijan sees rise in freight and passenger transportation incomes

Baku. Musa Ahmadov – APA-Economics. In the first quarter of this year, 13.9 mln tonnes of cargo (down 5.4%) and 74.9 mln of passengers (up 7.9%) were transported in Azerbaijan part of Silk Road transport corridor.

State Statistical Committee told APA that 50.4% of cargo were transported by trucks (+5.8%), 32.9% by railway and 16.7% by sea transport.

22.4% or 3.1 mln tonnes of cargo transported by sea transport made transit.

AZN 119.8 mln came from cargo transportation, AZN 26.1 mln – from passenger transportation, relevantly up 3.8% and 12.9% from previous year.
