Speaking about the second satellite to be launched by Azerbaijan, the Minister said that the country has started talks with the neighboring countries on 8 orbital positions: “Coordination is needed for their use. This is a very difficult process, due to the increased space density. Main talks should be held with Russia and its companies. Our main space positions have been held by them. We think that we’ll able to use private orbital positions for both of our satellites”.
Abbasov said that Azerbaijan’s orbital positions covers area from Eastern Europe to Pacific Ocean. According to him, Russia, Japan, China are located in this area and this issue should be agreed with them.
“Because frequency space is very dense. To access profitable projects, agreement should be reached with the neighboring cosmic countries. Currently, for Azerspace-1 satellite, we’ll use Malaysian orbital position rented for 20 years. However, we want to use Azerbaijan’s private positions for the next satellites”, the minister added.
