The integrated planning framework for Azerbaijan’s liberated territories covers an area of approximately 13,600 square kilometers, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev said during the session titled “Emerging Investment Areas: Real Estate, Tourism and Urban Development,” held as part of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, APA reports.
He said that master plans have been prepared for all 12 cities in the liberated territories, while planning documents have been developed for 106 settlements and villages.
“We are not simply rebuilding infrastructure and settlements. We are creating new urban and economic centers supported by modern transport links, social infrastructure and renewable energy potential,” Anar Guliyev said.
The committee chairman noted that urban development in the liberated territories is being planned together with transport, connectivity, economic activity, environmental management, energy systems, social infrastructure and demographic development.
According to him, the liberated territories are currently being connected to each other and to other regions of the country through new highways, railways and airports.
Anar Guliyev emphasized that the region has been designated as a “green energy” zone.
“This creates opportunities not only in reconstruction and real estate, but also in renewable energy, tourism, hospitality, logistics, industry and modern urban development,” he noted.
According to the committee chairman, the development of Karabakh and East Zangezur also contributes to Azerbaijan’s role as a regional connectivity and investment hub by strengthening links between communities, economic centers and markets.
Anar Guliyev emphasized that the development of the liberated territories represents a new stage in Azerbaijan’s urban planning and territorial development.
