Cargo transportation by railway transport rises 5% in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nicat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. in January-October, 2012, the cargo transportation via railway transport rose 4.6% to 19 mln tonnes.

State Statistical Committee says average 681 wagons were entrained, 562 wagons – detrained per day.

27,000 tonnes of cargo were entrained on the North direction, 6,400 tonnes – on West direction and 4,200 tonnes – on South directions. Within 10 months of 2012, cargo turnover rose 4.8% to 6,790.0 mln ton/km.

Besides, 2,282,200 passengers were carried during the same period, down 21.7% from a year earlier. Passenger turnover dropped 20.7% to 498 mln. passenger/km.
