Azerbaijan welcomes changes and additions proposed for International Telecommunication Regulations

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. The World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT) held in Dubai assumes great importance for several countries, including Azerbaijan, said Minister of Communications and IT Ali Abbasov, APA reports.

 

To him, the 12-day conference will revise the International Telecommunication Regulations adopted in 1988 in Melbourne (Australia), to be subjected to changes and additions.

 

The main purpose of the conference is to form create a new text of the Regulations on Telecommunications & IT, based on the proposals of the ITU members, reps of the private sector, NGOs, etc.

 

‘The event and new document to be signed there assumes great importance for several countries, including Azerbaijan. That is, adoption of new regulations will back the regulation of telecommunication system in Azerbaijan’, added the Minister.

 

Note that about two thousand delegates from 263 member countries have gathered for the World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT) in Dubai.
