Reason of abolishment of express trains in Azerbaijan made public

Baku. Ali Ahmedov – APA-Economics. Reconstruction of motor roads and increase of speed limit here decreased the interests of passengers in railway transport, said the Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Arif Asgerov.

According to him, abolishment of express trains or decrease of their wagons is related with decrease of railway passengers: “Today, speed of buses moving on newly-constructed roads increased and the passengers prefer vehicles. But, in the future, after completion of reconstruction works the speed of trains will reach 140 km/h”.

Asgerov noted that the electrical train would not be restored: “But, such of electrical train on Baku-Sumgayit route is considered”.
