 Azerbaijan signs renewed International Telecommunication Regulations

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Azerbaijani delegation led by the Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov attended the International Telecommunication Union's World Conference on International Telecommunications in Dubai, UAE.

 

According to Ministry, the International Telecommunication Regulations, adopted in 1998 in Melbourne (Australia), was reviewed and significant annexes and amendments were made in the renewed Regulations for regulation of providing of technologies and services at the international scale.

 

ITU-member states passed relevant decisions on main conditions of special treaties to be signed for providing of telecommunication services, roaming transparency in mobile communication, sufficient quality of services, profitable usage of number and address resources, security and sustainability in international telecommunication network and other actual issues.

 

At the same time, resolutions on provision of accesses to internet services, prevention of undesirable information, creation of opportunities for joining of countries, which have not access to sea, the fiber-optic networks, increase of attention to energy effectiveness, e-waste management and other issues were adopted at the conference.  

 

Minister Ali Abbasov held bilateral meetings with ITU Secretary General Hamadoun Touré, heads of delegation from US, Russia and other countries. At the end of the conference, Abbasov has signed the renewed International Telecommunication Regulations on behalf of Azerbaijan.

 

The regulations will come into force after ratification ion accordance with Azerbaijan’s legislation. At the closing ceremony of the conference, Abbasov made speech on behalf of member administrations of Regional Communication Union.
