In January–May of this year, 5.7 million tons of grain were transported by “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” (KTZ), which is 54% more compared to the same period in 2024, APA-Economics reports, citing Kazakhstan Railways.
Export transportation increased by 62%, reaching 4.5 million tons.
"It is noted that 2.2 million tons of grain were sent to Central Asian countries, which is 28% more compared to the previous year. Grain transportation toward Iran via the Aktau and Kuryk ports increased 12 times. Shipments to Black Sea ports rose by 20%, and to Baltic ports by 16%," the statement says.
