The decision requires Aztelecom not to cut off communication services to telephone exchanges with 492/497/437 initials, solve problems with interconnection services with mobile operators and in inter-city connection and provide the interconnection service at the necessary quality,” said AzEuroTel JV.
Prior to its announced date, Aztelecom limited channels providing access to the subscribers of telephones exchanges with 492/497/437 initials for connection with regions and mobile operators.
AzEuroTel said Aztelecom carries all the responsibility for failure to provide services to the subscribers of these telephone exchanges.
The statement reads that Aztelekom has neither power nor technical capability to completely suspend services provided by AzEuroTel.
Economic Court #1 made a decision yesterday to put an arrest on the bank accounts of AzEuroTel because it didn’t pay more than AZN 1 million bills owed to Aztelecom. Besides, AzEuroTel was banned from bringing illegal international traffic.
AzEuroTel said it has been provided international inbound/outbound communications services since its inception in 1997 in accordance with agreements with Rostelekom, British telecom and MCI WorldCom.
The company provides international communications services over the IP protocol.
As to the illegal international al traffic as claimed by Aztelecom, the company said in the statement that the license issued by the Ministry of Communications in 1996 allows them to provide these services.
According to the statement, the company is authorized to create WiMAX, Triple Play, IP-telephony and other communications and data transfer networks.
AzEuroTel squashed rumors about its closure.
“AzEuroTel is in operation. We are now conducting consultations,” said the company.
Aztelecom said it provided necessary channels to AzEuroTel for inter-city and mobile communications but AzEuroTel attempts to transfer international traffic through the channels, causing problems in the network.
Also, Aztelecom added that the ministry issued no license to AzEuroTel for international communications services.
The ministry said it was a row between two independent companies.
“The issue has to be solved in court, the ministry has no presence in this issue,” said the ministry.
AzEuroTel was established by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Communications (50%) and the UK-based LUKoil Europe Ltd. (50%).
