Google’s Vice-President Vinton Cerf: ‘Azerbaijan has selected a right way of development’ - PHOTO
In his speech, Cerf spoke about IGF-2012, noted the importance of this event. He said that such events would stimulate development of Azerbaijan in this sphere. Reminding a number of meetings held within the framework of his visit to Baku, Cerf also touched upon the meeting with Azerbaijani Minister of Communications and IT Ali Abbasov: ‘The meeting focused on several issues, as well as country’s development in ICT sector, the existing situation and perspectives, cooperation between Azerbaijan and Google, preparation of professionals for development of ICT sphere in Azerbaijan and etc aspects’.
Speaking about the use of internet and freedom of opinion, which were the main topics of the international forum held in Baku on November 6-9, Cerf noted that freedom of opinion was an important value and Azerbaijan pays great attention to it: ‘We will continue our observations on development of freedom of opinion in Azerbaijan’.
‘There must be created conditions for each person to use the internet. Putting it under a ban is violation of human rights’.
Moreover, Cerf appreciated the attention of Azerbaijani government towards ICT sector: ‘I think that Azerbaijan has selected a right way of development’.
Touching upon opening of Google office in the South Caucasus, Cerf said that the office could be opened in Azerbaijan, too: ‘We want to be in every part of the world. I will inform Google directory of Azerbaijan’s potential’.
