Azerbaijan to establish special system on information security next year

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Next year, Azerbaijan will establish special system on information security. In future, this will become regional information security center, Minister of Communications and IT Ali Abbasov told journalists, APA reports.

Speaking about hacker attacks on internet resources in Azerbaijan, the minister said that at present time, it was impossible to prevent hacker attacks beforehand. He noted that Azerbaijani side had addressed Armenia on this issue through the international organizations. But they accuse Azerbaijan in this issue.

The minister expressed that Azerbaijan would soon start the application of mobile number portability service: ‘The companies are already ready for this service and the process will start in January’.

The minister appreciated the plans on establishment of Microsoft’s Data Center in Azerbaijan. To him, the realization of the plan demands $0.5-1 bn investment. The sides are expected to sign agreement on this issue in the mid of 2013.

Touching upon the showing of Azerbaijani lands as Armenian territories in Google maps, Abbasov noted that there were a lot of complaints to Google company on this issue. Such appeals come from other countries, as well. The minister said that this issue would be discussed during tomorrow’s meeting with Google leadership: ‘I hope that the issue will be solved’.

Giving information about launching of Azerbaijan’s first artificial satellite into the orbit, the minister noted that the fist satellite would be launched into the orbit in the first decade of February, 2013. After 3 months from the launch, the satellite will start commercial activity.
