Internet Governance Forum kicks off in Baku

The Internet Governance Forum has brought together more than 1500 delegations from the state and international organizations, private sector, civil society, Internet enthusiasts. The main issue on the agenda will be â€˜Internet Governance for Sustainable Human, Economic and Social Developmentâ€™. Participants will discuss Internet safety, freedom of expression, access to the Internet and etc.

The discussions will focus on issues such as security and openness of the Internet, privacy on the Internet, as well as filtering Internet traffic, blocking access to Internet resources and the effects of measures to stop access to the Internet for individuals, groups and nations.

Among topics to be discussed will be also protection of free speech and innovation, and the role of professional and citizen journalism in the world today. In the focus will be some new challenges of online areas such as the protection of intellectual property, new business models and the use of the internet in the aftermath of natural disasters.
