Iran restructuring sea port and customs checkpoint in Astara

Baku. Ramil MammÉ™dli - APA. The reconstruction process of sea port and customs checkpoint in Astara city of Iran started. The goal is to realize comings and goings of citizens with Azerbaijan and other coastal countries via sea, said the Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsun Pakayin.

According to him, from now on, visits to Iran from Azerbaijan and other seaports will be facilitated. The reconstruction process of Astara port will be completed within next year: â€œWe think that, opening of seaport will cause some reduction in the movement of citizens at the land checkpointâ€.

Pakayin also spoke about works on launch of new customs checkpoints in the Iran-Azerbaijan border strip. According to him, Iran interested in elimination of obstacles, problems in comings and goings of citizens of both countries. Besides, the customs agencies were given tasks to eliminate the problems in these issues.
