Baku to host Internet Governance Forum

United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Wu Hongbo, Hamadoun I. Touré, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, officials from near 100 countries on information and communication technologies and more than 1,500 representatives from leaderships of private sector, civil society, international organizations are expected to participate in the forum, of which the topic is “internet governance for sustainable human, economic and social development”.

According to Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies, this year’s meeting of forum will be held in Baku Expo Center. The agenda includes Internet Governance for Development (IG4D). Representatives of government, business and civil society will discuss current internet safety, transparency, privacy, freedom of expression, access to internet and development issues, review examples on global internet governance and research development approaches of internet governance at the international and national level.

Ministry says virtual presence also will be possible in the forum. So, the persons, who can not visit Baku and participate in the forum, will be able to follow the forum. Interesting sides will be able to follow the discussions from home and offices. They will to participate in the forum at the http://www.intgovforum.org/cms/.
