Azerbaijan spends $50 mln to development of railways, this year

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. In Q1, 2012, Azerbaijan has invested AZN 38 mln ($48.5 mln) to development of railways.

According to the Ministry of Transport, these funds repaired 53.7 km of roads, 7 electric and 4 diesel locomotives, 408 passenger cars, purchased 25 units of road vehicles and equipment.

Remind that, in January-July 2012, cargo transportation via railway rose 6.9% to 13.2 mln tons. As to passenger transportation, 1,627.5 thousand passengers were transported via railway, down 21.85 from a year ago.
