Passenger and cargo transportations via air transport rise in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-ECONOMICS. 685,200 passengers were transported via Azerbaijanâ€™s air transport during the first half of 2012, up 14.5% from a year earlier, said the State Statistical Committee.

98.5% of transportation was carried out by state sector, 1.5% - by private companies. Passenger turnover grew by 16.6% to 1,046.4 mln passenger/km during the reporting period.

Cargo transportation via air transport rose 16.9% in January-June to 28,400 tons. Cargo turnover soared 21.7% to 133.1 mln ton/km.

At present time, 6 airports operate in Azerbaijan.
