Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. Strike at Istanbul airport did not affect Istanbul-Baku-Istanbul flights.

Baku office of Turkish Airlines told APA that today Istanbul-Baku flights #336 and 338 and Baku-Istanbul flights #337, 339 were realized on the schedule: ‘Besides, today, we will implement Istanbul-Baku flights #332 and 334, as well as Baku-Istanbul flight #333 and 335’.

Note that, two-day strike and work slowdown at Istanbul’s main airport has forced Turkish Airlines to cancel more than 247 flights, APA reports citing Turkish media.

Ground handlers, technicians and other workers are protesting a government-proposed legislation that would ban future strike actions by aviation workers. An aviation workers union says the proposed legislation violates international labor laws and is unconstitutional.

Within 2 days Turkish Airlines was forced to cancel 247 flights (179 yesterday, 68 today), which caused millions of dollar loss to company. In order to calm furious passengers, additional police forces have been involved in the terminals of Istanbul airport.

Remind that, Turkish Airlines is realizing Istanbul-Baku-Istanbul flight from Ataturk airport.
