Passenger and cargo transportation via air transport rise 15% and 10% in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-ECONOMICS. 418.6 thousand passengers were transported via Azerbaijanâ€™s air transport during the first quarter of 2012, up 14.5% from a year earlier, said the State Statistical Committee.

98.5% of transportation was carried out by state sector, 1.5% - by private companies. Passenger turnover grew by 15.3% during the reporting period.

Cargo transportation via air transport rose 9.7% in January-April to 16.7 thousand tons. Cargo turnover soared 5.6%.

At present time, 5 airports operate in Azerbaijan.
