Cargo transportation via transport sector increases by 3% in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-ECONOMICS. In January-April, 2012, the economic subjects operating in transport sector of Azerbaijan transported AZN 64.7 mln tons of cargo, up 3.2% compared to last year, said the State Statistical Committee.

According to SSC, the volume of non-oil cargos rose 8.2% during the reporting period: â€œ51.2% of cargos were transported by motor road, 31.2% - pipelines, 10.9% - railway, 6.7% - sea transport. Cargo transportation in non-state sector grew by 2.5%.

At the same time, in January-April, transport workers consumed transport services to 494.1 mln people, up 9.2% compared to last year. 86.4% of passengers used vehicles, 13.3% - metro.
