Iran sign agreement with Ukraine on construction of railroad

Baku. Konul Jafarli â€“ APA. A number of rail construction projects will be implemented in cooperation with Ukrainian investors, said deputy roads and urban development minister.

Ahmad Sadeqi, who is also the managing director of Construction & Development of Transportation Infrastructure Company said that experts from Ukrainian companies are expected to visit the projects and hold meetings with the ministry’s officials, IRNA reported on Saturday.

He also said an agreement was signed with Ukrainian companies to develop transportation infrastructures, particularly those of railroad network.

The official noted that completing the projects of Ardebil-Mianeh, Ardebi-Pars Abad and Tabriz-Mianeh railroads are among the initial agreements reached between the two sides.

If the submitted proposals are approved by the two sides, Ukrainian Companies will contribute to the development projects of Iran’s Roads and Urban Development Ministry. Sadeqi announced earlier that some 25 trillion rials ($2.5 billion) in credits had been made available to establish transportation infrastructures in the current Iranian year (started March 20), showing a 35-percent growth compared to the figure for the same period last year. He said that about 17 trillion rials ($1.7 billion) were earmarked for the construction of highways, freeways and railroads in the country in the past year. The official added that 2500 kilometers of freeway, 8,500 kilometers of railroads, 5,000 kilometers of highways and 10,000 kilometers of main roads were built during the period.
