Azerbaijan attends the first summit of Open Government Partnership

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. The Open Government Partnership, being established on a joint initiative of U.S. President Barack Obama and President of Brazil Dilma Rousseff in 2011, held the first high-level annual summit in Brasilia. Spokesperson of Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and IT Mushfig Amirov says two-day event was attended by nearly 2,000 heads of state, non-state, private institutions from 60 countries, as well as representatives of international organizations.

Azerbaijan was represented by the delegation led by Minister of Communications and IT Ali Abbasov. He spoke about activity of Azerbaijanâ€™s national action plan.

Representative of NGO from Azerbaijan, head of the National Budget Group, deputy justice minister of Georgia and deputy foreign minister of Armenia took part in the presentation ceremony.

At the same time, members of Azerbaijani delegation attended the Action Plan going on 12 blocks, consisting of two parts.

Within the summit, several bilateral meetings with Israeli Minister of Improvement of Government Services Michael Eitan, Albanian Minister of Innovation and ICT Genc Pollo, Jonas Moberg, Head of Secretariat, Extractives Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), member of Board of Directors of International Transparency Organization Elizabeth Ungar, head of US Carter Centre Laura Neuman, head of Brazilian Governmentâ€™s CGU Vania Vieira were held.

During the second day of summit, Minister Ali Abbasov made speech on â€œInformation Transparency: Perspectives of the Governmentâ€ to inform about Azerbaijanâ€™s successes in ICT sector. Representatives of Brazil, Liberia and Canada made speeches and shared experiences.

Note that, Bahram Khalilov, chairman of the Commission on Civil Service under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, members of Presidential Administration and Milli Majlis attended the summit.
