Azerbaijani ambassador to US meets with Orbital Sciences Corporation CEO

Washington. Isabel Levine â€“ APA. Azerbaijan is creating its own first telecommunication satellite, Azersat. Azerbaijanâ€™s ambassador to the United States Yashar Aliyev have discussed the details with David Thomson, Chief Executive Officer of the Orbital Sciences Corporation, which is responsible for designing, building and delivering Azersat, APAâ€™s Washington correspondent was told by the organization.

â€œThe ambassador said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev pays much attention to development of satellite industry, innovative solutions and ensuring of information security. The sides exchanged their views on building of Azersat satelliteâ€, Orbital representative said.

Thomson noted 50 countries have their own satellites. According to him, putting the satellite into orbit will boost Azerbaijanâ€™s economy.
