Azerbaijani President attends opening ceremony of Oguz-Gabala-Baku water pipeline

Launch of Oguzâ€”Gabala-Baku water pipeline has been started in accordance to the order of president. He attended the groundbreaking ceremony of this pipeline on March 1, 2007.

The Oguz-Gabala-Baku Water Pipeline consists of 2 m diameter GRP pipe extending from fresh water wells in Ogua to Baku. The pipeline will have a total length of 265 km. Since the water source is 410 km above the sea level, the entire pipeline is gravity fed and has no pumps in the system. SCADA system was applied for solution of emergency situations.

Then, Ilham Aliyev has put the plant in operation.

Note that, the total cost of the civil-engineering design of an Oguz-Gabala-Baku water pipeline is estimated in 480 million manats. The new pipeline will deliver water 5 cubic metres a second. Total length of this pipeline is 251454 m with 80 pipes.

7 water reservoirs were constructed for providence of pipelineâ€™s work and water pump stations have been constructed in 11 points of capital. Besides, management and control systems were set for permanent control of pipeline.
