Flydubai changes services
In its latest newsletter, the airliner said that it has changed the checked baggage rules. "You can now pre-purchase a checked baggage weight allowance - 20kg, 30kg or 40kg - and whichever allowance you choose, you can check-in up to three pieces," it said.
Earlier, passengers could purchase check-in baggage only in one category, of 32kg, and those flying with a lighter baggage still had to pay the amount required for up to 32kg. The implementation of the new allowance will benefit passengers that are flying lighter as they will have the flexibility to choose and pay for only the baggage weight they will be travelling with instead of the earlier fixed amount.
Passengers can pre-purchase a 20kg checked baggage allowance. Subject to availability, a 30kg or a 40kg checked baggage allowance can also be pre-purchased, the airliner explained.
Nevertheless, flydubai has reduced its free hand-baggage allowance from 10kg to 7kg. "The weight is a little less, but you can bring a small laptop bag or handbag as well. You can take one piece or item of hand baggage weighing up to 7 kg on board without charge," it said.
The company has introduced new fares as well. It now offers three types of fare - "No Change" fare, a "Pay to Change" fare or a "Free to Change" fare. "They’re all one way and tax-inclusive," it highlights.
The "No Change" fare is for one person. It cannot be changed once the booking that been done and the payment has been made. There is no facility of a refund and change in names is not permitted.
The "Pay to Change" fare gives the option of changing the booking up to 24 hours before departure for Dh100 per person, per flight, plus the difference in fare. If the fare is lower, a flydubai voucher will be issued, the company said.
This kind of booking also gives the option of cancelling the booking up to 24 hours before departure. "You’ll receive a flydubai voucher for the total amount of the money paid to flydubai less the Dh150 cancellation fee per person, per flight."
However, there is no change or cancellation permitted if the flight less than 24 hours before departure. Besides, no change in passenger names is allowed.
The "Free to Change" fare lets passengers change the booking up to 24 hours before departure without any extra charges. However, passengers are liable to pay any difference in the fare, if any. If the fare is lower, a flydubai voucher will be issued.
The option of changing the booking less than 24 hours before departure is available but comes with a charge of Dh365 per person, per flight, plus the difference in fare. If the fare is lower, a flydubai voucher will be issued.
The booking can also be cancelled up to 24 hours before departure. In this case a flydubai voucher for the total amount of the money paid to flydubai less the Dh150 cancellation fee per person is given.
The baggage allowance changes with each kind of booking.
