TRACECA holds seminar on prevention of pollution from vessels in Caspian and Black Seas in Baku

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA-Economics. Today, a seminar of TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission on the prevention of pollution from vessels, protection of the marine and development of management of safety in Caspian and Black Seas was held in Baku.

According to APA-Economics the representatives of shipping sector of Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Georgia and other member-states of TRACECA and experts attended the seminar.

According to seminar the project has started in August, 2009 and will end in July, 2011. Total cost is 3.4 mln Euros.

“The project aim to improve the process of ground and maritime carriages. It includes introduction of ladder logistics of routes of ground and maritime transportation,” said Akif Mustafayev, TRACECA national secretary on behalf of Azerbaijan.

On 11 October, in Brussels pilot technical project “Maritime Routes of the Black & Caspian Seas” received support of TRACECA national secretaries and the European Commission.

Completion of all procedures and project approval by the Commission is scheduled for early 2011.

The project to last for several years will have a budget of about 5.5 million euro. Within its framework it will be studied development of all communications between the Caspian and Black Seas, including support for the development of logistics.
