Measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border and to combat the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors are continuing successfully, the Press Center of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan told APA.
An attempt to smuggle 9 kilograms and 860 grams of marijuana from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented in the service area of the Lankaran Border Detachment of the Border Troops Command.
As a result of border search operations and operational–tactical measures, two residents of Baku who had arrived at the area to retrieve the narcotics—Shahriyar Salim Huseynov (born in 1991) and Sattar Niyazi Aliyev (born in 2001)—were brought to criminal responsibility.
Operational and investigative measures related to the incident are ongoing.
