A preparatory hearing at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, chaired by Judge Aygun Gurbanova, for Svetlichny Ivan Nikolaevich, who was exposed and arrested in a criminal case conducted by the State Security Service (STS), was held, APA reports.
He faces charges under Article 274 of the Criminal Code (treason).
Ivan Svetlichny, a citizen of Azerbaijan, is suspected of treason in the form of deliberate espionage and carrying out the tasks of foreign special services to the detriment of the state security, sovereignty and defense capability of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The specific acts he committed will be revealed when the indictment is announced in the next trial.
The trial is scheduled for February 3.
