Under the requirements of the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters dated October 7, 2002, the extradition requests submitted by the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan for Azerbaijani citizens—Said Aliyev, Artur Orujov, Emil Aliyev, Zaur Dehgani, Nahid Safarli, Adil Mikayilli, and Elmir Mammadov—have been granted by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA.
It was stated that since reasonable suspicions were established that these individuals committed criminal acts stipulated in the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, decisions were made to charge them as accused persons and they were placed on the international wanted list for fleeing the investigation and hiding.
The mentioned individuals were detained in the Russian Federation and have been transferred to Azerbaijan under the escort of the special convoy unit of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
