Armenians subjected 1480 Azerbaijanis to torture and other inhumane treatment during their captivity said the head of the Special investigation department of the Military Prosecutor's Office, Emil Taghiyev, APA reports.

He stressed that human remains belonging to a total of more than 480 people have been found in Farrukh village of Khojaly district, Edilli village of Khojavand district, Yukhari Seyidahmadli village of Fuzuli district, Dashalti village of Shusha district, Kalbajar, Aghdam, and other settlement during the past period.

According to Emil Taghiyev, human remains belonging to 34 people have been found as a result of the excavation works carried out in the old prison grounds of Shusha in the city of Shusha since May 2023. It is assumed that they belong to Azerbaijanis who were taken as hostages during the I Karabakh War. Emil Taghiyev stressed that the found remains indicate that the detained Azerbaijanis lost their lives as a result of brutal torture. They were insulted by being beaten, their hair cut, and were killed by unleashing dogs on them, feeding them to pigs, and other barbaric methods, later they were buried in the prison grounds of Shusha.
