From November 2020 to December 23, 2025, a total of 247,887 hectares of land in the liberated territories have been cleared of mines and other explosive remnants of war as a result of demining operations carried out by ANAMA and other organizations involved in humanitarian demining, ANAMA said in response to an inquiry from APA.
According to the information, in line with international mine action standards, the land clearance process is divided into two stages: mitigation of the negative impact of mines and full clearance of mines.
The first stage includes demining projects implemented in accordance with priorities defined under the Great Return Program. This phase focuses on enabling safe reconstruction and creating conditions for the secure and sustainable return of the population.
The second stage involves the complete removal of mine threats from territories, including areas along the former line of contact.
It was also noted that, to ensure safety and prevent potential mine incidents, areas heavily contaminated with mines and other explosive ordnance are temporarily secured and fenced off.
In total, 236,219 explosive items were discovered and neutralized, including 40,255 anti-personnel mines, 22,969 anti-tank mines, and 172,995 unexploded ordnance.
